Business Analyst Vs. Data Analyst

During the Evolutionary Development phase of the project, the Business Ambassador is the main decision-maker on behalf of the business. Managers are responsible for ensuring their employees receive the required training and skills to be successful.

A survey by the Project Management Institute found that half of project managers brought home at least $100,000 a year, as of 2010. So as digitization proceeds, business analysts and project managers (at least the good ones) will (and should) become product managers and these distinctions will disappear.

Lynda Girvan, co-author of 'ËœAgile and Business Analysis' published by the BCS in 2017 , says that, 'ËœBusiness analysis is very much part of the combined skillset, required and utilised within Agile teams.' She continues to say that some Agile projects fail because there is too much work given to the Product Owner, an individual who comes from the business, without the support of someone skilled at business analysis.' I take this to mean that business analysis is crucial to Agile success.

In theory, demarcation between business analysis and project management is defined in all details. Business analysts (BAs) are responsible for bridging the gap between IT and the business using data analytics to assess processes, determine requirements and deliver data-driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders.

Business analysts require data science knowledge as well as skills related to communication, analytical thinking, negotiation, and management. The free learning BA role needs to focus on the business; software design should be left to the specialists.
